Pakistan has a rich cultural diversity, as the society is largely multilingual, multi-ethnic and multicultural.

The Pakistani society comprises diverse cultures and ethnic communities, including Punjabi, Sindhi, Baloch, Pashtun, Seraiki, Mohair, Kashmiri, Makrani, and the ancient Wakhi and Burusho groups in the north.  Our Long Classical Tour will take you on a journey unlike any other. You will experience the diversity in cultural heritage that Pakistan has to offer. This tour has many exciting experiences that will take you from the Great Golden Mosques of Lahore to the modern city Islamabad and the Khunjerab Pass (world’s highest paved border), high in the mountains between Pakistan and China. Influences from the Mughul and the British empires are present throughout Pakistan; you will see how these influences have merged into a unique and diverse country. You will have a chance to explore the northern mountain villages where you will meet the legendary people of Brushu (Hunzais). You will experience the northern people’s innocence, strong hospitality, and friendliness, which they are well known for. This tour allows guests to have an eye-opening experience that goes beyond what most people think of when Pakistan comes to mind.

Itinerary

  • Day 01: ✈ Islamabad: Arrival at Islamabad, after transfer to hotel, half day tour of Islamabad, including Lok Virsa Pakistan monument, Shakarpara Hill before sunset and watch twin cities Islamabad and Rawalpindi birdwathcing, the garden in which Pakistani and allied countries’ politicians erected trees, a view of Rawal Lake and many fountains. After the museum visits, Faisal Mosque whose architect was a Turkish architect, Vedat Dalokay, The construction of the mosque is financed by Arabic king Faisal, that’s why his name was given to the mosque in honour of him. Islamabad is very young and modern city. When Pakistan was founded, the capital was Karachi which was more difficult to defend. Following the visits, transfer to the hotel. Dinner at hotel.
  • Day 02: Islamabad – Rohtas – Waga Border – Lahore: Following breakfast at 06:00, we will leave toward Dina to visit Rohtas Fort. After visit, we will continue our drive to Waga border to see flag lowering ceremony. In the evening we will drive to Lahore. Check, dinner & overnight stay will be hotel.
  • Day 03: Lahore: Following the breakfast full day tour in the cultural capital of Pakistan, Lahore. First destination is old Lahore city which was walled during Mughal Empire reign. Lahore Fort is our first visit. The fort is in UNESCO World Heritage List along with Shalimar Gardens. We visit the fort and its places available in and around it. After visiting the fort, we will see Badshai Mosque, the 2nd biggest mosque of Pakistan and 5th biggest mosque in the world. In its architecture Islamic, Persian, Central Asia and Hindu features can be recognized. Later, visit to Iqbal Park and see Minar-e-Pakistan which was erected in honor of the date 23 March 1940 when the independence Pakistan idea was declared officially for the first time after the meeting in the park. Lunch time after the visits. Later, visit Wezir Khan Mosque. The mosque is construsted by Shah Jahan’s Prime Minister İlumiddin Ensari. After the visit, continue with Lahore Museum. We will have the possibility of seeing Budhist sculpture of Ghandara art and manuscripts, miniatures, rugs from Islam period. After the museum visit, we will walk in the Anarkali. The bazaar has been active for 200 years.
  • Day 04: Lahore – Khewera – Islamabad: Morning drive 2.5 hrs on Motorway to Khewra Salt Mines (the 2nd largest mines in the world). In the afternoon leave for Islamabad (2.5 hours drive). Late afternoon till evening short tour of Islamabad includes Faisal Mosque, Pakistan monuments, and Raja Bazaar. Dinner will be served at the hotel.
  • Day 05: Islamabad – Taxila – Besham: This morning, we will start our journey (5-6 hrs drive) toward the mountain kingdom of North Pakistan on the famous Karakorum Highway/ancient silk route. En route visit Taxila Museum (1-hour drive). The modern town of Taxila is 35 km from Islamabad. Most of the Archeological Sites at Taxila (600 B.C-500 A.D) are located around Taxila Museum. For over 1000years, Taxila remained famous of as a center of learning in respect of Gandhara Art of Sculpture, education, and Buddhism in the days of Buddhist glory. There are over 50 archeological sites scattered in a radius of 30 km around Taxila. Some of the most important sites include Dharmarajika, Stupa, and Monastery (300 B.C – 200 A.D), Bhir Mound (600-200 B.C) Sirkap (200 B.C – 600 A.D, Jundial Temple (250 B.C), and Julian Monastery (200-600 A.D). After our visit, we continue our drive, en route we will stop for a cup of Pakistani tea and toilet break. O/N stay at the hotel.
  • Day 06: Besham – Chilas – Gilgit: It is long day 12 hrs drive but the scenery en route more than makes up for it. Before reached to Gilgit en route we will face some interesting photogenic stops at the pre-historic rock carving inscription at Shatial, rocks with ancient graffiti’s at Chilas, viewpoint of Nanga Parbat (9th highest peak of the world) offers breathtaking panorama on behind, the unique point where three mountain ranges, Karakorum, Himalayas, and Hindukush meet and our next stop will be at confluence of River Indus & Gilgit.
  • Day 07: Gilgit Town Tour – Karimabad, Hunza Valley: For half a day, we will explore the Gilgit town will include famous Gilgit mountain bazaar, suspension bridges, Kargha Buddha and walk along the Gilgit River. Late afternoon, we will drive along the beautiful Hunza river, one of the most special parts of Pakistan, en route we will stop at Monument of Karakorum Highway, collision point of Indian & Eurasian Plates, view point of historical silk route and view point of Rakaposhi peak (7788m). As we approach Karimabad the peak Rakaposhi (7788m) dominates the sky line to the east. Above Hunza stands the prominent rock spire Bublimating 6000m and the Impressive Ultar peaks. The former Mir of Hunza now lives in Modern Palace in Karimabad. We will have time to Explore the shops and city of Karimabad. Overnight stay at hotel.
  • Day 08: The tour will include meeting with local folks, understanding the secrets of their longevity and also visit some of the important historical sites including the recently renovated, simple yet overpowering, Baltit Fort and the Altit Fort.
  • Day 09: Hopar & Nagir Valley excursions: This morning we will drive by 4×4 jeeps to Hopar village (Nagar Valley) on opposite side of River Hunza for a walk on the Hopar Glacier. After lunch at Hopar, we will drive back to Duikar (The top village of Central Hunza) for sunset and sunrise photography.
  • Day 10: Karimabad, Hunza – Passu upper Hunza: Short an hour of driving on KKH along the river with the high peaks all around will bring us to Passu. But before reach to Passu we will stop en-route at Ganesh, (old village): The general belief, however, is that the original inhabitants are descendants of soldiers of Alexander the Great, further drive to Gulkin village and walk on glacier from Gulkin to Borit Lake and trek down to KKH , cross Passu suspension bridges. Overnight stay at the hotel.
  •  Day 11: Karimabad – Khunjerab Pass – Gilgit: Full day excursion to Khunejrab Pass. En route we will stop at rock carving, atabad lake, suspension bridge, veiw point of passu peaks, glacier and cones. We will reach Gilgit around evening, dinner & overnight stay will be at hotel.
  • Day 12: Gilgit – Shangri-la Skardu, Baltistan:  Following breakfast, we will drive 7-8 hours to Skardu Shangri-la. En route we will make several photo stops. The photo stops will include canyon of River Indus, hanging bridges and village. We will reach Shangri-la around late noon and after check0in at hotel Shangri-la Resort, we will go for walk along the resort for photography. Dinner will be served and overnight stay hotel.
  • Day 13: Shangri-la – Skardu – Khaplo:  Following breakfast, we will drive for an hour to Skardu Town, 30 minutes walk in Skardu bazaar, visit Khapochu Fort, Satpara Lake and around noon we will drive 3 hours to Khaplo for night stay at Serena hotel or PTDC hotel Khaplo. Dinner will be served at hotel.
  • Day 14: Khaplo – Skardu – Shigar Fort: Half day we will explore Khaplo Town, the visit will include local bazaar and scenic drive to a bridge. In the afternoon we will drive to Shigar and en route we will visit Shigar Sand Dunes (Coldest desert of Karakorum Mountains). Check-in at hotel will be around evening, dinner & overnight stay at Shigar fort (only nice hotel)
  • Day 15: Shigar – Skardu – Chilas: We will drive 8-10 hours back to Chilas. En route we will stops for photography, tea and toilet break. We will reach around late noon and check-in at hotel Chilas Shangri-la and dinner will be served.
  • Day 16: Chilas – Besham – Islamabad:It is long day drive to Islamabad and to make it easier we will have several stops along the road. We will reach Islamabad around evening, dinner & overnight stay will be at hotel.
  • Day 17: Fly back✈: You will be transferred to Islamabad International Airport to embark home flight. From peace and serenity of Mountains of Pakistan to the hustle and bustles of “modern” trends, you say Khuda Hafiz, the typical farewell, as you depart after a tour into Shangri-La. End of the tour.
